Who we are
The Emma Zen Foundation is a non profit 501 c 3 organization focused on Pet Safety. Our main goal is Pet Oxygen Mask program. We raise the funds through events, raffles expos and online raffles and purchase Pet Oxygen Masks. Then donate them at no cost to fire departments, on behalf of public donations, so they can have the right equipment to help save our pets lives. Why do it? Because it's making a difference and together we are changing the number of successful resuscitation attempts!
Making a Difference

Emma Zen Foundation
Our organization has had a positive impact on the number of pet lives saved. This life saving equipment for pets now offers them a chance at life, with an appartus that can give an adequate constant flow of clean oxygen. These masks were designed for dogs, cats, birds, and other household size pets with an effectiveness not previous available. We work for the safety of your pet and leave behind a legacy that bring life and happiness to both a pet in bronchial distress or asphyxiation and to the owner who loves their pet as much as we do ours. With the donation of this equipment we are changing the number of successful resuscitation attempts!

The Heart of our Organization
My name is Emma Zen Chiapuzio and what I am is one lucky dog. I lost my way in the fires of 2007 in Santiago Canyon, CA and ended up on the cold floor behind bars at the shelter. Then she came into the shelter, Debra Jo my very own Human. On the first day there she saw me and for some reason we knew we could help each other. I was on a fire hold and no one could take me out of the cage so she just stood there by my side. She was there when I woke and there when I went to sleep and with other people walking by she would send them away saying "she is mine." On the fifth and final day the staff told her it was first come; first serve at the gate. So at 2 AM there she sat, all alone, in the dark parking lot waiting for me! Can you believe it? How important I was right from the start! I became a thearpy dog, an actor and a biker dog! We did everything together and soon there was a lot of public awareness. My Human and I decided to use that awareness to bring attention to pet safety and fires, something I knew a little something about. How the foundation was born is the story below. This is the story of how we met and why we share one heart. We have made each other's life better and changed the way each of us will forever see it. I am a shelter survivor!
The Emma Zen Foundation
Was created out of the attention our name sake was receiving for doing nothing more than being herself! Emma Zen a Labrador / Great Dane mix Shelter Survivor was born on June 21st, 2007 and rescued four months later by our president Debra Jo. Debra Jo who has ridden her own life didn't think it was odd to take her new best friend along with her and they loved what became uncovered, Emma Zen the smile maker. You couldn't see her on the road without cracking a grin. Debra Jo decided to take the attention and divert it to something a bit more worthy and began raising funds for different charities back in 2009. In 2010 she attended a pet first aid and CPR program while brushing up on her skills and saw her first pet oxygen masks. Her original intent was to get them established in her own area and fast found that many others wanted to do the same. So she opened Emma Zen as a DBA. Being able to see the need for this life saving equipment the steps were taken and within 6 months Emma Zen became the Emma Zen Foundation a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit foundation.
Our Pet Oxygen Masks program became known as TEAM O2 and today we have expanded on even more safety equipment, preparedness and wellbeing with new programs such as TEAM Aid and TEAM Bark. Each of our board members and the numerous people who constantly volunteer their time and effort believe that preparing ourselves and our pets is worthwhile effort. The Human/Animal bond is without a doubt a strong bond and everyone involved in this foundation believes the key to life is shaped like a dog bone! We are each dedicated to preventing, maintaining and supplying equipment and knowledge that can help keep you and your pet safe.
